Scheuch EXPO and Fuckup Night
An event by employees for employees“Scheuch is really doing impressive things!” exclaimed a Scheuch employee at the in-house event held at the Scheuch Group in Aurolzmünster, Austria, on September 26. For the entire afternoon, four floors of the Scheuch foyer were transformed into a type of trade show in which employees from various departments presented their most innovative, most current and best projects to their interested colleagues.
“The goal of this expo is to bring people at the company back together face-to-face, promote personal communication and emphasize successful projects,” explains Zin Duong, Marketing Manager at Scheuch. Emphasizing the added value behind this, he adds, “After many years of intensive growth, it became time to create a place for interaction. Acquisitions, spinoffs and newly founded companies have resulted in new products, new markets and new customers. Each individual is thus proud of the projects they have concluded successfully and, with the interaction at the expo, all of their colleagues will find their enthusiastic spirit contagious.”
Back to overviewRepresenting the large number of successful projects at Scheuch, the over 350 curious visitors toured about 22 stations—only a minimal fraction of current activities. But what about the errors, known as “fuckups,” that happen in every lively, active company? Sweep them under the rug and carry on? Not at Scheuch. Scheuch devoted the evening of the expo day to this topic. Conscious of trends, the family-owned company lives out a new form of positive mistake culture in which the focus is on learning together, but also on allowing mistakes. Moderator Dejan Stojanovic, founder of Fuckup Nights Vienna, and speakers Erich Schönleitner and Maximilian Böger—all experts on mistake culture—were the evening’s featured guests. To make progress, you have to learn from your mistakes. The idea is that talking about it prevents others from making the same mistakes. The speakers were inspiring, captivating and motivating all at once.
Without a doubt, however, the highlight of the evening’s event came from Jörg Jeliniewski, one of the two Managing Directors. He led with his good example and showed courage by telling the audience stories about his past career mistakes. The audience found the deep and honest insights he offered into his life profoundly moving. All around, the highly inspiring feature event was met with emphatic applause.
