Scheuch GmbH has once again been awarded a certificate by the Austrian federal minister Dr Sophie Karmasin for ensuring a good family and work life balance.
Scheuch GmbH, which is headquartered in Aurolzmünster, has been certified for the second time as a family-friendly company – the only company from the Innviertel region of Upper Austria to be recognized in this way. The family-run company, which has approximately 1,000 employees worldwide, is one of the few companies in Upper Austria to have received this special accolade.
“There are only six companies in the industry that have received this berufundfamilie audit national certificate in the entire state – which makes us even more proud of the fact that we have received this accolade not once, but twice. It doesn’t just confirm that we are doing a good job – we see it more as an attestation of how much we value our staff. The management team is very keen to provide a solid foundation for a good working environment and a fulfilling private life for all employees,” said Wibke Scheuch, head of marketing at the Scheuch Group.
Scheuch awarded certificate for second time in a row
The presentation ceremony for the national berufundfamilie certification took place in the Odeon theatre in Vienna on 15 November 2016. Sophie Karmasin, the Austrian Families Minister, recognised 86 employers, universities, and health and care facilities from across Austria for their family-friendly policies. Scheuch GmbH has been audited since 2012 – and even before this, the company placed great emphasis on making work and family life compatible. It is part of the company’s culture to promote socially minded attitudes, sustainability, responsibility and fairness and to live by these principles. These values have been a key focus of the Scheuch family for over 50 years.
One person who is particularly pleased with this accolade is Martina Ornetsmüller, the person responsible for the audit at Scheuch: “This certificate shows that we are consciously addressing the subject in a structured way and at a high level, and that we are striving to maintain a collaborative relationship with our employees. We are proud of the fact that we are one of the few industrial companies that is committed to such high standards.”
Balancing work and family
The berufundfamilie audit is a defined process in which the participating companies agree to a three-year programme that aims to implement family-friendly measures. The goal is to develop and consolidate a family-conscious company culture. The resulting measures are combined with other projects such as promoting healthy initiatives at work and demonstrate Scheuch’s attractiveness as an employer.
Making work and family life compatible with each other is important both for employees and for the company. Qualified staff appreciate being able to have an active family life, and show their gratitude by being more motivated and committed at work. Martina Ornetsmüller says: “We think it’s really important to have motivated and happy employees – they are part of our company philosophy. This can be seen particularly during busy periods: our staff are always ready to step up and work together to get the job done as a team.”
